Soft Tissue Therapy & Massage in Glendale

Muscles, fascia, and connective tissue hold tension, compensate for injury, and often keep pain coming back long after the original problem resolved. Our soft tissue work targets those patterns directly — clinical massage aimed at a specific problem rather than an hour of relaxation.

soft tissue therapy

Sessions are targeted at a specific problem and can be intense in places, particularly over trigger points. That said, pressure is always yours to control — if you want a lighter, purely relaxing session, tell us and we’ll adjust.

Soft Tissue Therapy Service Hours

Monday through Friday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

Types of Work We Offer

Myofascial Release

Slow, sustained pressure that lets restricted fascia release rather than forcing it.

Trigger Point Therapy

Direct work on knots that refer pain elsewhere — the shoulder knot causing a headache.

Deep Tissue

Firmer pressure through deeper muscle layers, for chronic tightness that surface work doesn’t reach.

Sports Massage

Pre-event preparation, post-event recovery, and work on specific overuse injuries.

Prenatal Massage

Positioning and pressure adapted for each trimester during your pregnancy helping feel more relaxed.

Your First Session

1. Full intake

What hurts, how it behaves, and what you do all day. Desk work and physical work create different patterns.

2. Assessment

Finding where the restriction actually is, which isn’t always where you feel it.

3. Treatment

Targeted work at a pressure you control. Say something if it’s too much.

4. Plan

What to expect afterward, and what will help it hold.

Why It Works Better With Other Care

Muscles don’t tighten for no reason. Often they’re compensating for a joint that isn’t moving well — which means releasing the muscle without addressing the joint gives you a few good days before it tightens again.

Releasing the surrounding tissue before an adjustment tends to make the adjustment hold longer, and treating the joint reduces the demand that made the muscle tighten in the first place. Because both happen here, your therapist and chiropractor can sequence the work rather than each treating in isolation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between therapeutic and relaxation massage?

Relaxation massage is designed for the experience — even pressure, full body, the goal being how you feel during and after. Therapeutic massage targets a specific problem, which means more time on one area, more direct pressure, and sometimes work that’s uncomfortable in the moment.

Both are legitimate; they’re just aimed at different things. What we do here is primarily therapeutic, though we’ll adapt if relaxation is what you’re after.

Will a soft tissue massage hurt?

Some of it can be uncomfortable, particularly direct work on trigger points. There’s a useful distinction between productive discomfort — the “that’s the spot” sensation — and actual pain, which isn’t necessary and doesn’t make treatment more effective.

Pressure is yours to control. Say something at any point and your therapist will adjust. Soreness for a day afterward is common, similar to after a workout.

Is prenatal massage safe?

Prenatal massage is widely used during pregnancy with appropriate positioning and adapted technique. Let us know how far along you are when you book so the session can be set up properly.

If you have a high-risk pregnancy or any complications, check with your OB or midwife first — we’re also happy to coordinate with them.

Can I have massage during cancer treatment?

Please tell us about your treatment when you book, and we may ask you to check with your oncology team first. This is an area where coordination matters.

Is massage covered by insurance?

Usually not on its own. It may be covered as part of a workers’ comp or personal injury treatment plan. Call (818) 549-1300 and we’ll check your specific situation before you book.

Disclaimer

Tell us before your session if you: are pregnant or may be, are in or recently completed cancer treatment, have a blood clot/clotting disorder or take blood thinners, have a recent injury/surgery/fracture, have a skin condition/rash/infection at the treatment site, or have uncontrolled high blood pressure. None of these rule out treatment—they change how we approach it.
